Today’s game at Morningside will be an important one for the 2016 season of course but the background story of the day will be the milestone of 100 PBC games for Captain Jesse Derrick.
JD will complete a unique double having played 100 games also for Broadbeach in the former State League competition.
Today’s milestone is also a testament to his durability having only missed 2 games over his Senior career to date.
Every football club has some great family stories and the Derrick family remains prominent at Palm Beach Currumbin.
Jesses’ Grandfather Ron was a multiple best and fairest winner in the early days and Father Ley is a club legend and continues to support the club every year as custodian over the burger and can bar at every home game.
Brother Matt, also a 100 game player at the club, will also run out with Jesse today to take on the Panthers.
Jesse has been an outstanding contributor for PBC, has captained the club over the past couple of years and winning the PBC Best and Fairest in our 2013 Premiership Winning Year.
Congratulations JD; continuing the Derrick family legacy at PBC.
